"Irreparable" by svilleficrecs (NC-17) [Jun. 20th, 2008|11:40 pm]
Wrecked Fic

Title: Irreparable
Author: svilleficrecs
Rating: NC-17

Category: Het
Fandom: Iron Man (movieverse)
Pairing: Tony Stark/Pepper Potts

Author's Summary: He can do this. He can fix this. He can make this work.

Reccer's Notes: This fic comes with a rather long list of "warnings" - Lots o angst and unhealthy behavior, offscreen non-con, explicit onscreen references to the same, various sex, various kink including but not limited to BDSM (all four letters), CBT, heel play and... more. But after reading it, I'm convinced that these warnings are not at all sufficient, and yet also not really necessary. I'd have to add at least five or six more items to that list, and oh, that's probably sufficient for the first chapter. This fic is fucked up. No, seriously. It is twisted and shocking and brutal and really, really hot. And you know what? It's also totally smoopy. Somehow. I'm not quite sure how she pulls it off.

If the het parts turns you off from reading it, just pretend that she's a boy. It would almost work for most of it. Erm, maybe.

"Holy Ghost and All" by RD (R) [Jun. 15th, 2008|09:58 am]
Wrecked Fic

Title: Holy Ghost and All
Author: RD (th_esaurus)
Rating: R

Category: Het, Slash, Threesome
Fandom: Iron Man (movieverse)
Pairing: Tony Stark/Pepper Potts/Jarvis

Author's Summary: A fic where Pepper knows this is nine kinds of wrong.

Reccer's Notes: There are some fic plots you read where you just know that the first ten times you read it will suck. But! you know that if you hold out, one of them will, well, work, making it all worth the wait. This fic manages to get it right the first time. I mean, it's hard to pull off a threesome when one of the participants is a bodiless artificial intelligence (just a really very intelligent system, even), harder still to make it so confounding alluring as well. And funny. And damningly in-character. I was thoroughly, heartily, pleased to find this.

"Judas Doesn't Answer" by Auburn (R) [Dec. 21st, 2007|08:56 pm]

Title: Judas Doesn't Answer
Author: Auburn
Rating: R

Category: Het, Slash, Crossover
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Pairing: Various

Author's Summary: O'Neill and Woolsey arrive in Atlantis along with SG-1. Shortly thereafter, Sheppard and McKay find themselves in a race to catch a murderer.

Reccer's Notes: The minute I finished this, I knew I had to pass it on. A flawless victory, this is. From her extensive body of work, Auburn has established herself as probably the best suspense and thriller writer in the SGA fandom. This is over 75,000 words. I read it all in one sitting and didn't even think of moving. For about 5 hours. Not for hunger, not for thirst, not to use the bathroom. This kept me on the edge of my seat. Layer upon layer of intrigue and political maneuvering and psychological navigating build to a fantastic finish that will stay with me for a long, long time. And as soon as you finish, you'll want to start over and read it with all new eyes.

Quote: I would normally include a quote from the story in question, but in this case I fear that anything I quote would give something away and trust me when I say you really do not want that. Not for this story.

"Five People John Sheppard Didn’t Kill on P11-23R" by Sardonicsmiley (R) [Nov. 26th, 2007|10:22 pm]
Wrecked Fic

Title: Five People John Sheppard Didn’t Kill on P11-23R
Author: sardonicsmiley
Rating: R

Category: Slash
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Pairing: John Sheppard/Rodney McKay

Author's Summary: The boys get kidnapped, John gets them out. Told by five people he doesn’t kill in the process.

Reccer's Notes: Bloody and disturbing, this had me on the edge of my seat, riveted to the screen, while simultaneously wanting to look away. Made all the more effective and chilling by the use of outside perspectives. John’s rage is a great and terrible thing.

Quote: The other man, the one with the gun and the deceptively friendly voice, shoves Cottle forward hard, drawls, “I said, get to work.”

He wants to protest that he doesn’t know where to start, that he needs an operating room and x-rays and nurses. He turns his head, finally looks at the man that’s been holding a gun to his head for the last ten minutes, and feels the words die in his throat. He’s had his life threatened before, enough times to know that there are men who mean it, and men who don’t. This man means it.

"Written By The Victors" by Cesperanza (NC-17) [Sep. 13th, 2007|10:53 pm]
Wrecked Fic

scififreak
Title: Written By The Victors
Author: Cesperanza
Rating: Not given but I'd say NC-17 for sexuality, just to be safe.

Category: Slash, Het, Futurefic
Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Pairing: John Sheppard/Rodney Mckay, John Sheppard/Teyla Emmagen, Assorted others

Author's Summary: Excerpt:
Caroll, Franklin R. Atlantis Revisited. New York and London, Routledge, 2011.
Chapman, Denise. Several Kinds of Genius: The Life of Rodney McKay. NY: Harper Perennial, 2015.
Croft, Rosalind. City of Spires: A Memoir. Toronto: The Mercury Press, 2009.
Dugan, Paul. A Political History of Atlantis. Oxford: OUP, 2012.

Reccer's Notes: Where to begin? Using other people's words, this is a tour de force, a redefining of fan fiction itself. Simply brilliant. This is the story of Atlantis, as history will remember it. Using excerpts from the various scholarly texts written about the Atlantis Uprising, Succession, and War, the remembrances of those who lived it, and the conflict as it happened, we get a griping and utterly fascinating look of how it all might end. Please, even if you don’t know or read in the SGA fandom, read this. I’ve read many a story outside of my fandom based solely on recommendations or the subject matter. And hell, this is Cesperanza, who is known far and wide in many fandoms as a brilliant writer. Meta, story, everything. This is why I read fanfiction. Because every once and a while a story will come along and remind me why I have a button that says “Ask me about my obsession.” About 500 (and counting) commentors agree with me. Don't forget to check out all the amazing art, documents, poetry and songs people created to go along with the story.

Quote:

"I don't expect you to understand this. You can't love a city where you've never lived. But we are part of Atlantis now. Pegasus is in our blood. I don't expect you to understand that either: you would have to have walked through every gate with us. But I cannot leave these people, because they are my people now. "

"When the World Ends" by Ana-grrl (R) [Jun. 3rd, 2007|11:15 pm]
Wrecked Fic

scififreak
Title: When the World Ends
Author: ana_grrl
Rating: R

Category: Crossover, Slash
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis/28 Weeks Later
Pairing: Evan Lorne/Doyle (that's all that's listed for the char)

Author's Summary: In his room, late at night, Evan searches the lists of the dead for names he knows. He finds one. AU.
Notes: Story weaves through two timelines – post-Infection and pre-Infection. To make the timing work, I had to mess with the years a little – assuming that the first wave of Rage Virus infection happened in 2006 (SGA s3), rather than 2003. Title from the Dave Matthews' song.

Reccer's Notes: The scariest idea introduced in 28 Weeks Later is that of carriers. Think of the sheer paranoia and fear such a discovery would provoke. Everyone is suspect. There will be no taking of chances. Remember, just one drop of bodily fluid and it's all over.

Quote: Infection. The reports are explicit. Infection means blood, hunger, running, a relentless epidemic. Infection means lockdowns and people lost, and numbers skyrocketing.

On Earth, infection is terror and chaos and collapse.

On Atlantis, infection means lists.

"Sunset Dreams" by Rimau [May. 3rd, 2007|08:10 pm]
Wrecked Fic

saklani2
Title: Sunset Dreams
Author: Rimau
Rating: NC-17

Category: Slash
Fandom Batman and Robin
Pairing: Batman/Robin (Bruce Wayne/Dick Grayson)

Author's Summary: Bruce's life gets complicated after dreaming of his partner.

Reccer's Notes: I have no idea how I stumbled across this fiction in the first place, but I am glad I did. As terrible as the last two Batman movies were, they did tweak me a little for slash between the Batman and Robin characters. There was nothing else to watch them for...

But I digress. This pairing and fandom is not my usual bag, but Rimau does a believable and yummy job of getting them together. She manages to capture Batman's dark angst, combine it with Robin's youthful enthusiasm, throw in plot and come up with something that even non-fans should read. There is also a nice sequel. So go read now! Cause it's fun.

Quote: As we began to rub against each other, I realized something strange. There was something hard poking at my stomach. I reached down and my hand brushed an erection. And it wasn't mine.

All right. So this was step two in the 'homoerotic dreams of billionaire Bruce Wayne'. It was a bit dark in my dream-world, but I could still recognize the man on top of me. It was my young partner.

"The Big Picture" by Speranza (NC-17) [Apr. 21st, 2007|10:29 pm]
Wrecked Fic

Title: The Big Picture
Author: Speranza
Rating: NC-17

Category: Slash
Fandom: The Dead Zone
Pairing: Johnny Smith/Walt Bannerman

Author's Summary: His visions always gave him just enough information to act on, but they were never really great on giving him the big picture.

Reccer's Notes: The Dead Zone is one of those tiny fandoms where you have to dig and dig and dig to find much to read, but it's so worth it when you discover an author like Speranza. First off, her characters are pretty much spot on to the show (which you need to check out if you never have!) and act in completely believeable ways. Second, her stories have *OMFG* PLOT! And not just plot, but plot that is sophisticated and pulls you into the fic. And finally, the combination of Johnny and Walt is just so yummy that it adds the finishing touch a fic needs to be totally worth reading! Which this one is. I don't care if you don't even know the fandom, try it out anyway.

Oh, she writes SGA, too, if you need some other incentive to try her out. GO!

Quote:
"Yeah," Walt said. "You know, this coma shit is becoming a habit with you. Stop it."

And it was such a relief to make jokes, to refuse to take any of this seriously. "Hey, I'm trying to cut down," Johnny said.

Walt yanked the room's door open and waved him through. "Maybe you can find a support group."

"Oh, sure. 'Hi, my name is Johnny and I'm a psychic who goes into comas a lot.' 'Hello, Johnny....'"

Walt shrugged and followed him out. "I didn't say it would be a popular support group..."

Title: The Boys from Berlin Affair

Rating: Adult

Category: Slash
Fandom: M.U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Illya Kuryakin/Napoleon Solo

Author's Summary: "I don't want to wear his uniform and I don't want his damned astigmatism and I don't want his sadistic streak and I do not want his smile. And I don't want ageing Nazis looking at me like the fountain of immortality and their youthful indiscretions all rolled into one."

Reccer's Notes: Good story, plot, writing, etc. That's pretty much all I've got. (Really, this is 'cause I haven't seen Saki online recently).

"Visiting Alien" by entilzha (NC-17) [Apr. 10th, 2007|11:11 pm]
Wrecked Fic

scififreak
Title: Visiting Alien
Author: entilzha

Rating: NC-17

Category: Het
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing: The Doctor (Ten)/Rose Tyler

Author's Summary: 20 years after Doomsday and Rose has a life of her own. Then a familiar noise fills the park

Reccer's Notes: Time changes things and people. After 70 and 20 years respectively, Rose knows that they can’t just pick up where they left off, but she now has the maturity and wisdom to see things a bit more clearly than she did at 19. This time she’s going to think it through. This Rose is exactly how I want Rose to turn out. She’s a mature, intelligent woman here and finally on equal footing with The Doctor.

Quote: He puts his hands behind his head and stretches out. “Let’s see… My sense of duty is set far too high, I rush into dangerous situations to offset the fact I consider the consequences of emotional ones for so long they cease to be an issue. I’m a manic depressive who keeps travelling because the thought of having to keep my own company without distraction for any length of time terrifies me. I’m fiercely independent, feel rules are only there to be ignored in favour of the far stricter rules I place on myself — this is all probably rooted somewhere in my childhood experiences but I honestly have no idea where. The fact I’m a half-breed and always considered less than a full Gallifreyan may have something to do with it, but my parents seemed rather better adjusted than most so I don’t see that as an issue.” He sits up on one elbow and pats the bed. Rose sits down. “Honestly, I did all this stuff with Freud. I am what I am and I think I’m a bit long in the tooth to change now.”
